What he did for the World’s Fair- Director of Works
Why this was of significance- He was in charge of how the fair looked and worked. He planned the layout of the city including where it was to be, how it was to be built, budget and timetable. He brought the elegance and effectiveness of the buildings and grounds to the fair. After the fair his influence of city planning spread around the country. He truly turned the White City into a city.

Occupation- Recent graduate of the Architecture program at MIT.
What she designed for the World’s Fair-The Women’s Building
Why this was revolutionary- Her design won a contest that was held by a board of Lady Managers. They were looking for a female architect to come up with a building design. She was only 21 at the time. Although her design won awards she was paid much less (up to 10 times less) than men were being paid for their buildings.

What he designed for the World’s Fair-Manufacturers and Liberal Arts Building
Why this was revolutionary-It was the largest building at the time in the world. It covered 45 acres and was 1687 feet long, 787 feet wide and 245.6 feet high. The amount of paint used for the building was 50 tons and it cost $1,500,000 to build (in today’s money that would be $36,500,000).

Occupation-Architect of museums, famous buildings and mansions.
What he designed for the World’s Fair- The Administration Building.
Why this was revolutionary- The Administration Building was a major focal point for the fair. It was the high point on the Court of Honor and was directly on the shore of the Great Basin. It was the headquarters for the administrators of the fair. Hunt and his works were world renowned.
